DriveSafe Optional Feature for Trimble TrimWeb

Reduce Fleet Costs by Correcting Poor Driving Behavior
Aggressive driving and accidents are significant contributors to the cost of operating a fleet. Aggressive driving can lead to increased fuel use and tire costs, while accidents are expensive due to direct repair costs as well as higher insurance rates and lost production from injuries.

Driver and vehicle safety are major issues facing any fleet manager, yet with vehicles out on the road each day, it is difficult to detect unsafe driving practices until an accident occurs. Fleet managers need a reliable tool that helps them discover and correct poor driving behavior before it becomes a serious problem.

Trimble DriveSafe, a new optional feature for the Trimble TrimWeb GPS vehicle tracking system, reports indicators of aggressive driving that allow managers to monitor and compare driving behavior over time.

What Does DriveSafe Do?

Pricing

Measures accelerations of the vehicle during driving maneuvers such as turns, starts and stops.

Pricing Measures average vehicle speed via high resolution GPS positioning.
Pricing Calculates a score for each maneuver.
Pricing Reports scores for individual drivers as well as a composite score.
Pricing Compares individual scores to the average scores for the fleet.

DriveSafe contains averages of data collected both when the truck is loaded and when it is returning to the plant empty. Categories include turns, starts, stops and speeding. Scores are generated for each category with 100 as the average for the fleet. A score of 108, for example, indicates more aggressive driving than average.

DriveSafe can be configured to best suit your individual needs by allowing the user to assign a Score Weighting value to vehicle speed and to each type of maneuver. For example, the score for loaded turns may be weighted much more heavily than for unloaded starts.

DriveSafe Reports
DriveSafe reports, viewed over an extended period of time, are excellent tools for supervisors to use in conducting targeted driver training and counseling programs.

A tabular Fleet Report provides scores of various maneuvers plus an overall composite score for each truck.

DriveSafe is an add-on feature for customers using the TrimWeb solution and requires no changes in hardware or software. Data is typically collected for at least two weeks prior to generating reports and then reports may be downloaded on demand. In many cases, drivers need only be reminded about certain elements of their driving behavior to improve safety. In other cases, drivers may need training to significantly alter their driving style to avoid potential accidents. Either way, the DriveSafe system will help make your fleet safer and lower your operating costs.
